i-mobility center

Although the area around the Kamiya-cho Intersection in Hiroshima City is a major traffic node, there are so many stops for public transport such as buses, trams, and the new transit system that it was difficult for the users to understand which stop to go to and which transport means to take. In addition, there has been a growing demand for providing information on barrier-free transport for the physically disabled and elderly people.

In response, the Hiroshima National Highway Work Office of MLIT and the Kamiya-cho underground business complex jointly completed the Shareo i-Center at the central square beneath the Kamiya-cho Intersection as the first i-mobility center in Japan.

This underground center offers various services such as information provision by staff at the information counter and via a large display and touch- panels on the following: real time information on public transport, barrier-free facilities, roads, weather, regional activities, and sight-seeing. To satisfy the requirements of users, the services of the center will be continuously improved by reviewing and adding to the contents of information and by listening to the opinions of the users and public transport bodies.
