IT platform for Niigata ITS

The IT platform is a knowledge management system for sharing information obtained by road administrators, and for integrating the existing systems such as road monitoring camera, traffic volume monitoring devices, and meteorological observation apparatuses which have been introduced for various purposes, as well as new systems such as ITS and CALS/EC which will be introduced in the future.
At the Niiagata National Highway Work Office of the Ministry of Construction, the IT platform has been used to promote projects, swiftly execute tasks, and improve the work environment. In addition, it allows necessary information to be shared among the staff in real time, making it easier to take action for disasters and snow-removal, and measures against snow and ice, and strengthens the cooperation among road-related organizations in risk management. The IT platform is expected to play a major role in the development of ITS.
